Description:
Responsibilities You will assist in the planning and execution of educational and research activities in the Oceanography Department. You will collect physical and acoustic oceanographic data and perform reduction, analysis and modeling of this data in support of on-going research and instructional activities. You will support student and faculty programming needs and lead classroom activities. You will manage the Oceanography Department's Moored Experiment Laboratory (MEL) with responsibility for designing, developing, and testing oceanographic systems and subsystems, including sensor selection and mechanical configuration. You will perform technical leadership roles in both instructional and research at-sea cruises (deck boss, watch chief and team leader) and for in-house laboratory activities. You will be responsible for deploying and recovering oceanographic systems and subsystems. Travel Required Occasional travel - Position requires four to twelve weeks of travel per year associated with at-sea and nearshore research and instructional projects.
