Title: Fisheries Technician 1- Upper Sacramento Surveys (19-1135) Location: Red Bluff, CA (96080) Anticipated Start Date: July 8, 2019 Position Type: Seasonal (11 months or less), Hourly/Non-Exempt Benefits Eligible: Yes | www.psmfc.org/benefits Salary Target: $15.50/hour Job Number: 19-1135 How to Apply: Online at www.psmfc.org/careers Closing Date: June 18, 2019 at Midnight PT Position/Project Specifics: A fisheries Technician 1 will be required to build and maintain video stations throughout the monitoring season. This will include installing and troubleshooting underwater cameras, dvr's, laptop computers, Didson/Aris units, overhead lights, batteries, and battery backups. Technicians will also perform daily weir maintenance. Maintenance includes removing debris from resistance board weirs, brushing white plates, cleaning camera lenses, and performing repairs as needed. These duties will require the use of hand tools such as drills, reciprocating saws, angle grinders, circular saws, welders, plasma cutters, multimeters, and... Technicians will also be called upon to perform carcass surveys. These surveys will take place on the Mainstem of the Upper Sacramento River and its tributaries. Safe operation of jet boats, catarafts, and kayaks will be required. Tools for carcass surveys include secchi discs, machetes, gaffs, knives, and chopinators. Work will take place in all weathers and include weekends. ** This position requires a valid driver's license and all offers of employment will be contingent upon passing a driving record check. **
Requirements:
A range of experience and education may be presented. At the lower end of the range, candidates must present six months of General Experience* OR one year of education above the high school level that included at least six semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses. An equivalent combination of experience and education is also qualifying. At the upper end of the range, candidates must present one year of Specialized Experience** OR a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with a major or at least 24 semester hours of coursework in any combination of scientific or technical courses. An equivalent combination of experience and education is also qualifying. *General Experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with biological sciences or the processes of the biological sciences. **Specialized Experience is experience that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled.
