ACADEMIC PROGRAM COORDINATOR - HATFIELD MARINE SCIENCE CENTER-OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY The Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director. The Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) is seeking an Academic Program Coordinator (APC) to join the Director's office team. HMSC is dedicated to supporting undergraduate and graduate full immersion transdisciplinary courses and experiences directly applicable to careers in ocean- and coastal-related fields. The APC is a critical member of a dedicated and passionate team that supports an optimum learning environment at HMSC. The Hatfield Marine Science Center campus is concluding a multi-year process of expansion with the addition of the Marine Studies Building and associated academic, research, and outreach and engagement programs. This includes expanded academic offerings based at HMSC. This position will have a range of duties that may change as the demands of the academic programs grow and more personnel and infrastructural are added. While we are looking for a person with experience to perform the duties incumbent to the position, we are also focused on finding a person with an aptitude for providing academic support whatever the tasks may be, excitement about change, and willingness to learn and grow as the position develops. The APC will plays an integral role within Hatfield Marine Science Center's academic programs. Supervised by HMSC's Academic Programs Manager, the position is responsible for coordinating and supporting operational and logistical aspects of academic courses, student awards, internships, and student life. The APC will serve as the primary contact for students interested in or located at HMSC. The incumbent will support undergraduate and graduate students though the academic life-cycle of study at HMSC. To support student success, this individual must understand and communicate OSU policies and be familiar with OSU/HMSC academic programs. The APC will work collaboratively with their supervisor, instructors, students, OSU, and HMSC personnel to ensure successful academic programs at Hatfield Marine Science Center.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional experience in a field similar to the assigned responsibilities. Excellent written, oral, and digital communication skills required. Ability to communicate concepts, policies and procedures clearly and effectively. Evidence of successful working relationships and accomplishments with individuals and communities of students, staff, and faculty of diverse backgrounds and personal characteristics and the ability to develop purposeful networks and partnerships in order to achieve department mission and objectives. A history of customer services skills in past work. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
