Freestone Environmental Services, Inc. (https://www.gofreestone.com/) a multi-disciplinary consulting firm, is currently seeking to hire a talented individual to serve as a Digital Communications Specialist for the Office of Response and Restoration's (ORR - https://response.restoration.noaa.gov/) Marine Debris Program (MDP - https://marinedebris.noaa.gov/), a program within the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Ocean Service. The position is located in Silver Spring, MD. Summary: The candidate will be responsible for creating and managing digital content and developing visual materials for the MDP. The incumbent will be responsible for taking complex scientific information and developing blogs, web content, presentations and the like that communicate effectively with a broad range of technical and non-technical audiences. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, experience managing and writing digital content, and is comfortable working on a variety of digital platforms. In addition, the candidate should be detail oriented, a team player, and enjoys problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. Duties: Digital Communications/Content Strategy ? Coordinates strategic communications across digital platforms, such as websites, social media, newsletters, etc. ? Refreshes and maintains website content within a Content Management System (Drupal). ? Collaborates with the web developer to implement improvements to the website for ease of use, accessibility, and an intuitive user interface. ? Leads blog content development and calendar. ? Produces written material, such as blogs and speeches, for diverse audiences. ? Leads development of a monthly e-newsletter. ? Tracks, reports, and interprets digital communication analytics. Graphic Design ? Develops graphics and layouts for various products, such as reports, infographics, etc. ? Leads the development of outreach materials, such as posters, fact sheets, etc. ? Develops annual art contest calendar layout and design. ? Develops presentations. ? Develops and maintains a photo library.
Requirements:
Qualifications: ? Master's degree or Bachelor's degree. ? Excellent written and oral communications skills. ? Experience translating scientific information into plain language and developing engaging content for different audiences. ? Experience copy editing documents. ? Excellent eye for detail and demonstrated experience with design and visual creativity. ? Ability to work on your own, as well as collaboratively with a wide range of individuals and within teams. ? Ability to work on multiple projects, be responsive to deadlines, and shift priorities as needed. ? Familiarity with a variety of digital platforms such as Drupal web development software, social media, and newsletters. ? Ability and interest in learning new technology/software. ? Familiarity with Google analytics or similar analytical tools. ? Experience with making web content accessible to people with disabilities. ? Experience with design software such as the Adobe Suite.
