WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Ocean Recovery Scientist provides technical and scientific leadership for marine habitat restoration and species recovery projects. They work closely with The Nature Conservancy staff and local partners to advance community-based marine and coastal restoration in California and selected geographies throughout the Pacific. They convene stakeholders, practitioners, agencies, academics and other key partners to support regional collaborations and scaled restoration efforts. The Ocean Recovery Scientist designs and leads key science and monitoring initiatives to advance marine habitat restoration and species recovery and measure conservation success. They lead, design, and conduct scientific surveys and research, record data, write reports and proposals in order to administer and coordinate conservation and restoration programs within the California Oceans Program. They must be able to work utilizing SCUBA, as well as in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, in hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances. Requirements:

- Master's Degree in ocean science related field and 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Knowledge and experience in coastal restoration research and implementation. - Record of peer reviewed publications in scientific journals. - Experience directing a scientific research program, including designing and leading the implementation of ecological field studies. - Experience building collaborations with peers, partners, government agencies, NGOs, academics, etc. - Communication skills experience; written, spoken and graphical. - Documented experience and comfortability conducting marine science or fieldwork-related activities underwater
