FWC-Division of Marine Fisheries Management Position Number: 77072742 Title: Fisheries and Wildlife Biological Scientist III Location: Russell Park, 1875 Orange Avenue East, Tallahassee, Florida Supervisor: Erika Burgess Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 (or $1,538.46 - $1,730.77, bi-weekly + benefits) Minimum qualifications: A bachelor's degree in fisheries, marine science, or biology or four years direct experience conducting marine fisheries research, public outreach on marine fisheries, or in managing marine fisheries. Those with a master's degree or PhD, or a bachelors in fisheries, marine science, biology, and at least two years of work experience related to marine fisheries will be given preference. Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history record check. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: FWC's Division of Marine Fisheries Management is seeking someone to serve with the Analysis and Rulemaking team of professionals developing recommendations for the Commission and implementing fisheries management and policy for some of Florida's most popular saltwater fisheries. The successful candidate will serve as Division Historian and lead rulemaking research. In this role, they will analyze, synthesize, and manage historical records to inform on-going and future rulemaking, management, and policy decisions. This position oversees one part-time position that conducts records management. In support of on-going and future rulemaking and management decisions, this position coordinates the development of the division's annual workplan and monitors progress in workplan completion. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in development of technical papers and presentations on management of various Florida fisheries to support the Commission's rulemaking process and help the Commission build a record of decision. This position provides an opportunity for stakeholder engagement and education through: Developing content for FWC's public Saltwater Fisheries webpages and printed regulations publication. Preparing FAQs to enable staff to respond to public inquiries. Serving as the Analysis and Rulemaking liaison to the division's Outreach and Education sub-section to support development of informational and outreach products Assisting with coordination and execution of public workshops and other information-gathering meetings. Building public support for agency objectives and programs. Responding to public questions and concerns relating to the Commission, its programs, rules, license requirements, fish biology, or fish and wildlife conservation Managing the division's internal webpages. This position may take on other duties as assigned to support the Section Leader, Deputy Director, and Division Director on special assignments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills, and be able to work well with team members and members of the public. Other required knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Knowledge of general biological principles, marine fisheries management issues and marine fisheries subject matter. Skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and Teams. Ability to use good judgment in decision-making and planning. Ability to synthesize highly technical information for public dissemination. Ability to understand, evaluate, analyze, and organize marine resource (especially fisheries) information into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials and for a variety of audiences. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and complete work assignments. Ability to conduct fact finding research and utilize problem solving techniques. Ability to review and interpret fisheries regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Supervisory experience Skills in R, SAS, and GIS LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
